Serodiagnosis of dengue infection using rapid immunochromatography test in patients with probable dengue infection.
OBJECTIVE To determine the frequency of seropositive dengue infection using rapid immunochromatographic assay in patients with probable dengue infection as per WHO criteria. METHOD A cross-sectional observational study was conducted at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Karachi from July 2008 to January 2009. Patients presenting with acute febrile illness, rashes, bleeding tendencies, leucopenia and or...
متن کاملCloning and application of recombinant dengue virus prM-M protein for serodiagnosis of dengue virus infection.
We studied the use of the precursor to the M structural protein (prM) found only on the surface of mature dengue virus as a target protein to detect dengue virus infection. Recombinant D2-16681 prM-M protein was constructed and tested for immunogenicity with dengue and Japanese encephalitis patient sera by Western blot analysis and indirect ELISA. The sensitivity and specificity of indirect ELI...
متن کاملImmunoglobulin A antibody responses in dengue patients: a useful marker for serodiagnosis of dengue virus infection.
We determined the usefulness of an immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibody-capture enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for serodiagnosis of dengue virus infections. The results indicate that the presence of IgA and IgM in serum samples assures recent primary dengue virus infection even with a single serum sample.
متن کاملSeroepidemiology of Asymptomatic Dengue Virus Infection in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
BACKGROUND Although virologically confirmed dengue fever has been recognized in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, since 1994, causing yearly outbreaks, no proper seroepidemiologic studies on dengue virus have been conducted in this region. Such studies can define the extent of infection by this virus and estimate the proportion that may result in disease. The aim of this study was to measure the seropreval...
متن کاملSerodiagnosis of dengue virus infection in patients presenting to a tertiary care hospital.
Dengue is an acute infectious disease of viral etiology. It is probably one of the most important arthropod borne viral disease in terms of human morbidity and mortality. The spectrum of disease ranges from self-limited dengue fever to more severe forms of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) or dengue shock syndrome (DSS). Laboratory diagnosis of dengue virus infection mainly depends on detection of...
